CISCO VPN Client (Version 4.0.x)

In order to apply the new ELS internet lodgment facility proposed by the ATO for year 2003, ensure you have perform all the procedures listed below.

(A) DOWNLOAD THE CISCO SOFTWARE
 
Ignore this section (A) if you have already received a CD-ROM from Catsoft. The CD-ROM contains the Cisco software - VPN.exe.
 
 
Step 1: Click here to download the Cisco software: VPN.exe  
     
Step 2: After step 1, a window (shown below) will appear. Click on the  Save  button.  
 
 
     
Step 3: After step 2, a window will again appear (shown below). Ensure the field titled   Save In:  is pointing to  Local Disk (C:)  Then, click on the  Save  button.  
 
 
     
Step 4: After step 3, the file - VPN.exe - will be saved to the C: drive on the PC.  
 
 
 
(B) INSTALL THE CISCO SOFTWARE
Step 1: On the MS Windows desktop, click on the     button.  
     
Step 2: After step 1, select the menu item titled:  Run...  
     
Step 3: After step 2, a window will appear (shown below). For the field titled  Open:  type in C:\VPN.exe   and  click on the  OK  button.  
 
 
     
Step 4: After step 3, a window (shown below) will appear. Click on the  Unzip  button.  
 
 
     
Step 5: After step 4, the Cisco files will be copied to the  C:\WINDOWS\TEMP  folder.  
     
Step 6: After step 5, on the MS Windows desktop, click on the    button again.  
     
Step 7: After step 6, select menu item entitled:  Run...  
     
Step 8: After step 7, a window will appear (shown below). For the field titled  Open:  type in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\SETUP.exe   and  click on the  OK  button.  
 

 
 
Step 9: After step 8, the Cisco installation process will begin. During the installation process appropriate instructions will be prompted to navigate you through the installation process.  
 
 
 
(C) IMPORTANT NOTES
     
Note 1: Issue:
Applicable to MS Windows XP only;

Message you will encounter:
Hardware Installation:
Cisco system VPN adapter has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Window XP.

Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows logo testing.

What should you do:
Click on the button titled:  Continue  to complete the installation process.
 
 
     
Note 2: After installation, should you still encounter any difficulties during VPN authentication i.e. any Cisco VPN error reported, please contact the ATO Helpdesk for further assistance.  
 
 
 
(D) OBTAIN THE NEW LOGIN INFORMATION
 
Ignore this section (D) if you have already received these information from the ATO.
 
     
Step 1: Contact the ATO to first obtain the Cisco VPN login identification information. The VPN identification consist of: 1. VPN Login ID   and   2. VPN Login Password. The VPN Login ID consist of 6 characters and start with the initial V.  
 
 
 
(E) SETUP THE NEW LOGIN INFORMATION IN TAXCAT
     
Step 1: On the MS Windows desktop, click on the    button.  
     
Step 2: After step 2, click on the menu titled:  Programs  Then, select the folder titled: Catsoft Suite  
     
Step 3: After step 2, select and click on the the program icon titled:  Taxcat 2003  
     
Step 4: On the Taxcat 2003 main screen, click on the top menu titled:  Setups  Then, select the sub-menu titled:  Directory & System Details  
     
Step 5: After step 4, a window will appear (shown below). Select the tab titled:  System Default.  Then, click on the option titled:  Apply DIS 11 transmission  
 

 
 
Step 6: After step 5, press the button titled:  F4 Save  
     
Step 7: After step 6, on the Taxcat 2003 main screen, click on the top menu titled:  Setups  Then, select the sub-menu titled:  Communication Setup  
     
Step 8: After step 7, a window screen will appear (shown below). Enter the
VPN Login ID and  VPN Login Password  obtained from the ATO to these fields titled:
VPN Username:  and  VPN password:
 
 

 
 
Step 9: After complete entering the details in the Communication screen (shown above), press the  F4 Save  button.  
     
  Important notes for the setup:
- if you are using a dial-up Internet Service Provider, ensure the
  dialup connection is properly setup prior to setting up the details in the
  communication screen;

- it is not mandatory to use the Telstra ELS Dial-IP for the new ELS
  lodgments program; Please make sure the conditions associated with
  the Telstra Dial-IP if you intend to use it; check with the ATO;

- Ensure you tick the option titled: 
Use ATO Telstra Dialup?  if
  you intend to use the ATO Telstra Dial-IP;

- If your internet connection is either ADSL, Cable or any direct
  connection, check the option titled:
Apply direct internet
 connection


- Always enable the option titled: 
Automate VPN login

- For MS Windows XP user, enable the option titled: 
Tunneling IPSec
 
over UDP  if you encounter any connection problems;
